The CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders have bolstered their Canadian depth, signing three players they selected in the 2022 draft.
The team announced the signings of offensive lineman Diego Alatorre Montoya, receiver Riley Boersma and defensive back Tristan Fleury.
Alatorre Montoya was selected by Saskatchewan in the third round (27th overall) of the 2022 draft. The 6-foot-3, 312-pounder out of UBC spent most of the 2022 season on the Roughriders’ practice squad, but was on the active roster for one regular-season game.
Boersma, whom the Roughriders took in the eighth round (72nd overall) last year, went to training camp with the Green and White before returning to the University of Regina for his final season of U Sports eligibility.
The 5-foot-10, 191-pounder caught 34 passes for 311 yards, rushed 12 times for 86 yards and returned nine kickoffs for 202 yards in eight regular-season games with the Rams in 2022.
Fleury, a fifth-round pick (45th overall) in 2022, was at the Roughriders’ training camp but returned to McGill University for his last U Sports season.
The 6-foot-2, 192-pounder recorded 19 solo tackles, 22 assists, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one pass breakup and one forced fumble for the Redbirds in 2022.
