The RCMP is warning drivers not to stop if they come across what might look like a staged accident after a motorist was robbed Thursday in northwestern Saskatchewan.
The Pierceland RCMP says a driver was travelling along Highway 21 on the Mudie Lake First Nation when they came across a black compact SUV on the road, with a man lying on the ground nearby.
When the driver stopped and got out of the vehicle to help, the man on the ground got up, threatened the driver with a machete and demanded the keys to their vehicle.
A second male nearby assaulted the driver, who was then robbed of some cash.
Police say the driver was able to escape and call for help. The suspects were last seen heading north on Highway 21 toward Pierceland in the black SUV.
One suspect is described as wearing jeans and a black hoodie, while the other is described as being around 5-foot-11 with a thin build, and dark-coloured eyes. He also was wearing a black hoodie and black neck warmer pulled over his mouth and nose.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
