Saskatchewan’s first and only online gaming and sports betting site is set to launch Nov. 3.
The website, PlayNow.com, is a project of the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA), through an agreement with SaskGaming.
The website, according to a statement from SIGA president Zane Hansen, offers “a safe and secure option for residents to play their favourite casino games and bet on their favourite sports teams online.”
Susan Flett, the president and CEO of SaskGaming, said the site means more options for those inclined to place a wager.
“The rollout of online gaming and single-event sports betting opens up new casino entertainment options for residents,” Flett said in a statement.
“The launch timing is also ideal with Saskatchewan hosting this year’s Grey Cup in November.”
The CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders have partnered with PlayNow, SIGA said, and the logo will be featured on the team’s jerseys during Saturday’s game against the Calgary Stampeders.
Net proceeds from PlayNow will be reinvested back into Saskatchewan, Hansen noted.
The site was made possible by an innovative agreement between the Government of Saskatchewan and the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations, signed in September of 2021. Chief Bobby Cameron said the site will bring in funds for the province and its Indigenous population.
“This will provide many economic benefits to the residents of our province and our First Nations Communities,” Cameron said.
Anyone 19 and older can pre-register on the site now, SIGA said.
