For the third time since being arrested, the man charged after a stabbing incident in Prince Albert’s Superstore parking lot is on the run.
Eagleclaw William Sanderson, 22, failed to show up for his most recent scheduled appearance Monday at Provincial Court and a warrant for his arrest was agreed to by the judge.
According to court records, Sanderson had previously been released from custody Oct. 3 and one of his conditions was to attend court.
Sanderson, from Saskatoon, is facing a charge of aggravated assault in connection to the incident outside the Superstore on March 15.
The victim, who was stabbed near the heart, told paNOW how he intervened after seeing two men being harassed and threatened outside the entrance doors.
Moments later, a number of people emerged from parked vehicles and a man wearing a red shirt, allegedly the accused, told the victim he was going to stab him.
After initially backing away toward his own vehicle, and while facing continuing threats, the victim responded by fighting back. He said he knocked out at least two of his attackers.
Upon realizing all three would not be getting back up, the victim recalled standing in the parking lot, checking to make sure people would be calling the police. He then noticed his own shirt was soaked in blood and a doctor later informed him he had a 3.5-centimetre cut in his chest that narrowly missed his heart and lungs.
