Unidentified woman found deceased after vehicle fire in Prince Albert

Prince Albert police investigators are hoping the public may help identify a woman whose body was found in a burnt vehicle.

Just before 9 a.m. Sunday, officers attended to the 1200 block of 17th Street West along with the Prince Albert Fire Department for a report of a vehicle on fire.

When they arrived, the vehicle involved was fully engulfed in flames. Police located the deceased female inside the vehicle once the fire was extinguished.

In a news release, police said investigators are presently attempting to identify the female, who is described as being approximately 5-foot-1 and approximately 100 pounds. The deceased was located wearing distinctive pink high-top Nike Flight shoes and maroon-coloured leggings from Lululemon.

The Prince Albert Police Service has not had any reports involving a female matching the description of the person located inside the vehicle and is asking for the public’s help with the investigation.

“Investigators are anxious to identify the deceased and locate her loved ones.”

The Prince Albert Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Identification Unit continue to investigate along with the Office of the Chief Coroner.

Investigators will remain in the area for the remainder of Sunday and possibly into Monday.

On Monday, paNOW spoke with several neighbours, who all shared hearing a “boom.” One woman said the explosion shook her house. Another man indicated his kids were home and told him they heard screaming.

While police have not identified the woman, one neighbour said she could not talk because it was her “friend.”
