"When I found out this opportunity was possible, it was a very easy decision for me."
Firefighters in Saskatoon saved a man who was trapped in a garbage truck early Friday morning.
According to the fire department, the man was trapped inside the bin of an automated garbage truck, and the driver was alerted when he called out from inside. The driver stopped the truck, the fire department said, and used a camera system to find the man inside.
“The male was not injured but needed assistance out of the bin,” the fire department said in a statement.
“No automatic tools were required. It is unknown if the person was unhoused or searching the bin for recyclables.”
The entire rescue only took about 20 minutes, the fire department said.
