The Saskatchewan Roughriders confirmed the return of one player and announced the signings of two others Monday.
As was first reported Thursday, the CFL’s Roughriders have brought back receiver Brayden Lenius after he tried his luck in the NFL.
The 25-year-old receiver was released by Saskatchewan on Jan. 7 so he could sign with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. He was released by the Falcons on July 28.
Saskatchewan selected the 6-foot-5, 220-pounder in the second round (15th overall) of the 2019 draft out of the University of New Mexico. He had two catches for four yards as a CFL rookie, then caught 37 passes for 471 yards and four touchdowns in 14 games with the Roughriders last season.
Saskatchewan also announced the signings of American running back Shaun Wilson and American quarterback Levi Lewis.
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Wilson had NFL stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Commanders and Tennessee Titans. The product of Duke University was with the B.C. Lions during the 2021 CFL season.
Lewis signed with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent after the 2022 draft and went to their rookie camp.
The 5-foot-10, 184-pounder spent five seasons at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, where he set the school record for career passing touchdowns (74) and finished second in career passing yards (9,203).
