According to 3DownNation’s John Hodge, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have re-signed Regina-born receiver Brayden Lenius.
The 25-year-old receiver was released by the CFL’s Roughriders on Jan. 7 so he could sign with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. He was released by the Falcons on July 28.
Hodge said the 6-foot-5, 220-pound receiver won’t play with Saskatchewan on Friday against the B.C. Lions, but could be in the lineup for the Labour Day Classic against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sept. 4.
The 3DownNation report said Lenius’ new contract with the Roughriders is for two years. It includes $150,000 in hard money for 2023, which will make him one of the CFL’s highest-paid Canadian receivers next year.
Saskatchewan selected Lenius in the second round (15th overall) of the 2019 draft out of the University of New Mexico. He had two catches for four yards as a CFL rookie, then caught 37 passes for 471 yards and four touchdowns in 14 games with the Roughriders last season.
He’s the son of former Roughriders receiver Troy Dickey, who played in Saskatchewan in 1995.
