8:30 – As the number of transgender patients increases especially among girls who are entering the stages of adolescence, Canadian specialist Dr. Joey Bonifacio is urging medical doctors to slow down treatments for them. Bonifacio says in a recent article from the National Post that the health care system should examine why these trends are soaring all while taking a “neutral” approach to young patients. 10:30 – On Aug. 20, 1959, Pilot Ray Gran and conservation officer Harold Thompson both died when their plane crashed into Peter Pond Lake, near Buffalo Narrows, SK. Sixty years, later Linda Kapusta (Ray Gran’s daughter, who was born after the crash and never met her father) and her husband would help in the recovery of the wreckage by hiring a professional who uses sonar technology. Don and Linda Kapusta join John to talk about the process it took to recover the plane and its history.

11:00 – Victoria Hetherington is a Canadian author with a big interest in aviation. She is here to tell us about her latest book, ‘Into the Mist: Finding CF-JDO’ which launches on Saturday, August 20, which happens to be the 63rd anniversary of the tragedy. Her nonfiction historical book explores the tragic and touching story of two young men, F/O Raymond Gran, and conservation officer Harold Thompson, who disappeared in 1959 without a trace. The book follows the incredible journey their families took to find them, nearly 60 years later, and delves deeply into many aspects of Saskatchewan’s history.

12:00 – With Friday, August 19 marking the 80th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid, The Royal United Services Institute has created commemorative pedestals honouring HMCS Weyburn and the South Saskatchewan Regiment, both who served in the Second World War. Brad Hrycyna, president of the Royal United Services Institute of Regina and a retired army major, joins Gormley to tell us more about the unveiling ceremony tomorrow.
