A grass fire was slowing traffic on Highway 1 near Swift Current on Wednesday afternoon.
Just before 3 p.m., the RCMP said the eastbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway were closed from six kilometres west of Rush Lake to seven kilometres east of Swift Current due to a grass fire.
“It is unknown how long the lane closure will last,” the RCMP said in a statement. “Detours are in place but motorists can expect delays.”
Emergency workers were on the scene and smoke was affecting visibility, the RCMP said. Police asked all drivers in the area to slow down.
