The six best days of summer in Saskatoon kick off Tuesday afternoon with the opening of the exhibition at Prairieland Park.
Marketing manager Kristy Rempel says the Ex of old is back after the pandemic reduced last year’s fair and the 2020 event was cancelled altogether.
“We’re fully prepared for big crowds and great weather,” said Rempel, adding the parade is the only Ex mainstay missing this year.
On average more than 200,000 people pass through the gates and organizers are expecting similar crowds this year.
Fairgoers will be treated to Ex favourites like the midway rides, food, shopping and entertainment. Rempel said there are also new attractions this year including an Ex museum and new location for the Doukhobor bread booth.
“We’ve moved the actual ovens even. It’s in an easy-to-find spot right near the log cabin, which will be the Saskatoon Ex museum,” Rempel said.
Some of the fun fair foods to try are the mac ‘n cheese soft serve ice cream, rainbow grilled cheese and the fair favourite spudnut.
The evening shows at the SaskTel grandstand begin at 8:30 p.m.
