A five-year-old boy is dead and a man is missing after their canoe capsized in the Bradwell Reservoir on Thursday evening.
At about 6:35 p.m., officers from the Saskatoon RCMP detachment responded to the reservoir, which is about one kilometre southeast of Bradwell. That village is about 50 kilometres southeast of Saskatoon.
Police were told the man and child were on the water when their canoe tipped. The boy was pulled out of the water by rescuers and was taken to hospital by STARS air ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.
The man hasn’t been found. RCMP officers and searchers from the Allan Fire Department, Allan Search and Rescue and the Saskatoon Police Service Air Services were scouring the reservoir Friday.
People were being asked to avoid the area.
