A boy with a sawed-off rifle and a woman carrying ammunition were arrested Tuesday in Saskatoon.
Police said officers with Saskatoon’s Gangs and Guns Unit were watching a home on Avenue J South Tuesday afternoon as part of a firearms investigation, and spotted a 16-year-old boy leave the house with a bag and get into a taxi. The cab was stopped, police said, and the boy was arrested. Inside the bag, officers found a sawed-off rifle and ammunition.
A short while later, police said a 31-year-old woman left the home. She was also arrested as she tried to leave the area in a vehicle, and was found to be carrying ammunition.
Police then called in the Tactical Support Unit to conduct a search of the home, where more ammunition was found.
The woman and boy are both facing numerous firearm charges.
