Environment Canada issued severe thunderstorm watches for much of central Saskatchewan on Wednesday afternoon, as well as a severe thunderstorm warning for the areas around Melfort, Tisdale, Nipawin and Carrot River.
The watches, which mean conditions are favourable for a severe storm, are in effect for the areas around Prince Albert, the Battlefords, Kindersley, Rosetown, Meadow Lake, Martensville, Warman and Hudson Bay. A warning means severe weather conditions are already occurring or will occur.
