Alert cancelled, suspect at large after shots fired at RCMP in La Ronge

An emergency alert for communities in La Ronge has been cancelled.RCMP urged residents to shelter in place after two men with handguns fired at officers at 12:40 p.m. on Sunday.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m. the alert was called off and RCMP said multiple people had been taken into custody without injuries.

One man whose photo was released has not been located yet or identified.

RCMP says he has short dark hair with the sides shaved. He was wearing dark pants and a dark shirt with gold patterns down the sleeves along with dark running shoes.

The suspect was last seen on foot in the area of Far Reserve Road in Air Ronge and may have been heading toward Highway 2.

A police presence in the area continued on Monday and residents were asked to remain vigilant.
