A man had a scary experience in a bar on 22nd Street in Saskatoon on Tuesday.
Gary Varr said he was sitting alone in the lounge around 10 a.m., looking at his phone.
Then he felt a sting on his thigh.
“At first I thought someone had burnt me,” Varr said.
He described the feeling as a burning feeling, like he had been Tasered.
Instead, he said a man who had been wearing a red baseball hat had stuck a needle into him.
“I didn’t pay any attention to him because I was looking at my phone and he walked behind me and stabbed me with a syringe,” Varr recounted.
Varr said the man was walking towards the door to leave and yelled back at Varr to get himself tested.
“I was definitely poked because I felt the pricking sensation,” Varr said, though he isn’t sure if he was injected with anything.
He went to emergency to get checked over and was informed that he should get checked regularly over the next few months.
Varr shared security footage of the incident online.
“I just wanted other people to know about it,” he said.
The Saskatoon Police Service said it’s investigating and asks anyone with information to call 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
