Two women were arrested Thursday in Saskatoon after allegedly stealing a vehicle during a test drive and ramming police cars, injuring an officer.
According to police, officers were called to Idylwyld Drive North around 5 p.m., after a vehicle was reportedly stolen from a dealership salesperson at knifepoint during a test drive.
Police said officers caught up to the stolen vehicle in heavy traffic near Preston Avenue and College Drive, but the driver jumped a raised centre median and took off at high speed into oncoming traffic.
With help from the Air Support Unit, officers caught up with the suspects again on Eighth Street East, but police said the driver rammed and disabled two police vehicles in an unsuccessful bid to get away. One officer was hurt in the alleged ramming, but the injuries were not serious.
Two women were arrested, a 24-year-old from Prince Albert and a 27-year-old from Saskatoon. Both are facing a long list of charges, including assault with a weapon, dangerous driving, resisting arrest, and robbery.
