Saskatoon police have issued arrest warrants for three people who are accused of committing an indignity to human remains in connection with the investigation into the disappearance of Megan Gallagher.
Gallagher, 30, was last seen on video surveillance at a convenience store on Diefenbaker Drive in Saskatoon in September of 2020. In January of 2021, police announced they were treating the investigation as a murder.
Police later released an audio recording of a phone call allegedly made from Gallagher’s phone calling for a cab ride on Sept. 21, 2020. Officers confirmed the people who made the call were picked up by a taxi and dropped off on Avenue P South.
On Wednesday, Saskatoon police announced they had made on arrest in connection with Gallagher’s death, and were on the hunt for three more suspects — although none of the four individuals has been charged with murder or manslaughter.
A 41-year-old Saskatoon man has been arrested and is charged with committing an indignity to human remains, police said. He’s to appear in court Thursday.
Three others were charged with the same offence, and police are now working to track them down.
John Wayne Sanderson, 44, Roderick William Sutherland, also 44, and Jessica Sutherland, 42, are wanted by police. Sanderson is a resident of the James Smith First Nation, police said, while addresses for the other two aren’t known.
Saskatoon’s Major Crime Unit is still investigating, and police urged anyone with information about the case or the three people wanted in connection to contact the Saskatoon Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
