Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in Saskatoon on Wednesday, when he announced the signing of a bilateral agreement with the provincial government aimed at improving long-term care homes.
The agreement, announced alongside Saskatchewan Seniors Minister Everett Hindley, includes $32 million in funding for the province’s care homes through the Safe Long-Term Care Fund. The money will be used for enhanced screening protocols for staff members, safer dining practices, and improved cleaning and housekeeping.
According to his itinerary, Trudeau will be in Saskatoon through the majority of the afternoon.
The prime minister is set to meet with students from the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Agriculture and Bioresources, researchers at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization, and families at a local daycare.
