Lucinda Geisler is experiencing a lot of sleepless nights lately, waiting for any word from or about her stepdaughter Michelle Spence.
Spence and her two kids, two and seven years old, are missing. They were last seen Monday afternoon in Prince Albert.
“(My husband and I) have been sick with worry, of course. Sleepless nights — we’re taking turns sleeping. Our phones are with us 24-7,” said Geisler, who then sighed heavily. “Every morning it’s like you wake up, look at the phone, wake up, ‘Anything on your phone?’ ‘Anything on your phone?’ Nothing.”
Geisler said Spence has never taken off like this in the past and has always kept in touch with them, even when things weren’t going very well.
“She was in Saskatoon after the kids had been (seized by Child and Family Services) … We were still in regular contact and then when she ended up living on the streets is when I went out to Saskatoon and picked her up,” explained Geisler.
Prince Albert police said there’s no evidence of abduction, but Geisler believes otherwise.
“There’s been no contact, (her) phone goes right to voicemail, Facebook messages (are) not delivering to her like she’s got no phone. She knows in this day and age she has to have a phone. She’s got kids; she knows better,” said Geisler.
Geisler said Spence had just started a sober living program and had just recently got custody of her kids back. Spence also was attending Narcotics Anonymous meetings and getting counselling – all reasons Geisler doesn’t think she would pick up and leave.
“She was doing all the right stuff. This is why I don’t understand this. Like something’s wrong, something’s not right here,” said Geisler.
Geisler has nothing but good things to say about police so far, saying they’ve been keeping her in the loop every day. Geisler said she has told police everything she can think of that might help, including information about past relationships and domestic violence issues.
Geisler says Spence loves the outdoors.
“She liked going for walks out in the country. She likes being in the countryside,” explained Geisler.
“The one common thing we shared was grounding, I called it, and it’s where you take your shoes off and socks off and bare feet in the grass, the dirt, the sand, wherever you’re by.”
Spence’s kids are also missing. Geisler called Neil a “real bright little boy” and Eva “just a little darling” before getting emotional and saying she didn’t want to talk about the kids.
Geisler said she just wants to know that Spence and the kids are safe.
Spence was last seen wearing a black shirt with red flower print, black pants and black sandals.
Neil Pambrun was wearing a purple and yellow ball cap, blue and grey long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.
Eva Olson was last seen wearing pink pants, a pink sweater and blue shoes.
Anyone with information on Spence or the children’s whereabouts is asked to call the Prince Albert Police Service at 306-953-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
