Fire breaks out at LT’s Food and Fuel north of Prince Albert

A fire broke out Wednesday at LT’s Food and Fuel, about 45 minutes north of Prince Albert on Highway 2 at the turnoff to Waskesiu.

Crews from the Lakeland and District Fire Department, Waskesiu Fire Department, Buckland Fire Rescue, Montreal Lake Fire Department, OSS Water Hauling and SPSA Weyakwin Fire Base responded to the blaze.

According to an update on the Lakeland and District Fire Department’s Facebook page, at 1:24 p.m., firefighters responded to find the building at the rear of the main structure fully involved.

The fire department said the motel was a total loss but crews were able to stop the fire from spreading to the main store and restaurant thanks to the work of the crews involved.

There weren’t any injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Crews were to be on scene into the evening working on hot spots.
