The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added more depth at defensive back and running back.
The CFL team announced Wednesday it had signed American DB Levonta Taylor and American tailback Frankie Hickson.
Taylor played cornerback and safety during his career at Florida State University. In 35 games with the Seminoles, the 5-foot-10, 190-pounder recorded 90 career tackles, one sack, four interceptions — two of which he returned for touchdowns — and one forced fumble.
He signed as an undrafted free agent with the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams in 2020, but didn’t crack the roster. Last year, he played for the Sea Lions in The Spring League.
According to the Roughriders’ official roster, the team now has 17 defensive backs under contract.
The 5-foot-8, 200-pound Hickson played 47 games over five seasons with the Liberty University Flames, recording 610 carries for 2,898 yards and 30 touchdowns. He left Liberty as its all-time leader in all-purpose yards with 4,494.
Hickson became the sixth tailback on the Roughriders’ current roster.
