8:30 – A small delegation from Saskatchewan is in Germany. They’re meeting with displaced Ukrainians and refugee-serving organizations to determine additional supports Saskatchewan can provide to those fleeing the war in Ukraine. MLA Terry Dennis is leading the delegation and he is joined by Iryna Matsiuk, member of the Saskatchewan Ukraine Relations Advisory Committee and Co-Chair of the Ukrainian Canada Congress. Matsiuk, who emigrated to Canada from Ukraine in 2011, joins Gormley from Germany to discuss what their group is doing to help those living in a war zone.

10:00 – The hospitality and tourism sectors are facing a worker shortage. Recent funding and programs like the Hard-To-Fill Skills Pilot, and the Re-Skill Saskatchewan Training Subsidy are helping to attract and train employees, but Jim Bence with Hospitality Saskatchewan says they are still very short on people who want to work. Bence joins Gormley to discuss some of the employment struggles the industry has been facing and what they plan to do to recruit employees.

11:00 – In a TEDx Talk released this month, mental health advocate Al Kehler expands on the ideas he put forward in his 2020 book ‘MENtal Health: It’s Time To Talk.’ Kehler says men avoid talking openly about mental health, but the fear of appearing weak is leading to a suicide rate that’s three times higher among men than women. Kehler joins Gormley for a discussion on mental health, and why helping your struggling friends to feel seen and heard could be the start of a life-saving change.

12:00 – This Thursday will mark World Quantum Day, and scientists at the Centre for Quantum Topology and its Applications (quanTA) at the University of Saskatchewan are working to develop new innovations and applications in quantum science. Director Dr. Steven Rayan is aiming to make the Saskatchewan Prairie a centre for quantum innovation, and he joins Gormley to explain what the heck quantum technology and quantum computing are, share the work happening in Saskatchewan, and tell us why these innovations are so exciting for the future of science and technology.
