The Saskatchewan Roughriders are hoping for a Shaq attack in 2022.
The CFL team announced Tuesday it had signed American running back Shaquille Cooper, who has CFL experience with the Edmonton Elks, B.C. Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The 29-year-old product of Coral Gables, Fla., rushed 33 times for 142 yards and a touchdown and caught 11 passes for 69 yards in five games with B.C. last season. After joining the Bombers, the 5-foot-10, 190-pounder returned eight punts for 19 yards and five kickoffs for 108 yards in two games.
In seven games with Edmonton over the 2018 and ’19 seasons, Cooper rushed 90 times for 496 yards and two touchdowns and had 21 receptions for 156 yards and one TD.
Cooper, who played college football at Fort Hays State, joins Jonathan Femi-Cole, Kienan LaFrance, Shamar Moreland and Jamal Morrow in the Roughriders’ stable of tailbacks.
