More than two years after initially signing with the Saskatchewan Roughriders but never playing with them, receiver Xavier Ubosi has once again signed with the CFL team.
The Roughriders announced Wednesday they had added the 27-year-old product of Canoga Park, Calif., to the roster.
Ubosi signed with the Roughriders in December of 2019, but didn’t play with them in 2020 because the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. He was cut in 2021 because he wasn’t able to attend training camp.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder out of the University of Alabama-Birmingham previously had NFL stops with the New England Patriots, New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In 26 games over two seasons at UAB, Ubosi caught 48 passes for 1,065 yards and nine touchdowns. As a senior, he was named MVP of the Boca Raton Bowl after catching seven passes for 227 yards and three TDs.
