Saskatchewan will have two representatives at the Tim Hortons Brier.
Colton Flasch and his Saskatoon Nutana team of Catlin Schneider, Kevin Marsh and Daniel Marsh will wear Saskatchewan’s colours as the provincial champions at the Canadian men’s curling tournament.
The team Flasch knocked off in the SaskTel Tankard final — the Regina Highland foursome skipped by Matt Dunstone — also will be in Lethbridge for the Brier as Wild Card #2.
Dunstone is backed by Braeden Moskowy, Kirk Muyres and Dustin Kidby.
The three Wild Card berths were awarded to the top three teams on the Canadian Team Ranking System that didn’t qualify through their respective provincial or territorial championships. Those teams are skipped by Dunstone, Brad Gushue and Jason Gunnlaugson.
The two Saskatchewan-based teams are in Pool A along with Alberta’s Kevin Koe, Ontario’s Glenn Howard, Newfoundland-Labrador’s Nathan Young, New Brunswick’s James Grattan, Tyler Smith of Prince Edward Island, the Yukon’s Thomas Scoffin and the defending champions skipped by Brendan Bottcher.
Pool B comprises Gushue, Gunnlaugson, Northern Ontario’s Brad Jacobs, Manitoba’s Mike McEwen, Quebec’s Michael Fournier, Nova Scotia’s Paul Flemming, Brent Pierce of British Columbia, Jamie Koe of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut’s Peter Mackey.
The 18-team tournament is to run March 4-13.
