A goal many people are saying is the best of the 2021-22 hockey season to date cemented Connor Bedard’s status as WHL player of the week.
The Regina Pats centre was honoured Monday after recording four goals and seven points over three games. His first of two goals Sunday night against the Calgary Hitmen had tongues wagging across the country.

Bedard, 16, had two goals Wednesday in a 5-4 loss to the visiting Saskatoon Blades, two assists in Friday’s 5-4 defeat at the hands of the host Lethbridge Hurricanes, and two goals and an assist Sunday in a 5-4 overtime setback to the hometown Hitmen.
One of the top prospects for the 2023 NHL draft, Bedard has at least one point in 12 of the 13 games he has played with the Pats since Nov. 28. He has 30 points, including 14 goals, and 10 multipoint games in that span.
Bedard, the first WHL player ever granted exceptional status by the CHL, has a team-leading 45 points in 33 games so far this season.
Regina is to visit the Edmonton Oil Kings on Tuesday.
