Mike Edem will be back next season patrolling the defensive backfield for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The Canadian safety has signed a contract extension to keep him in green and white for 2022, the team announced Friday.
Edem returns for a fifth season with the Riders after originally coming over in a trade with the B.C. Lions.
Edem was named a CFL West Division all-star when he had a career-high 69 tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble in 2019.
His 2021 season was cut short after suffering a wrist injury that required surgery. Edem had 11 tackles and one forced fumble in five games.
Edem was selected by the Montreal Alouettes in the first round (3rd overall) of the 2013 CFL Draft and was named an East Division all-star his rookie year. Edem spent two full seasons with Montreal before being traded to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats during the 2016 season.
He signed with the Lions for the 2017 season and would eventually be traded to the Riders.
