Why are you so pissy?
It’ll be a question that will live on in Edmonton Oilers’ lore after Hall of Fame writer Jim Matheson got into it with star Leon Draisaitl in a media session on Wednesday.
In the childish debate on who started it, Draisaitl didn’t do any favours by giving Matheson a short and really disrespectful answer to a pretty basic question. When asked to expand on it, he told Matheson, “You can do that. You know everything.”
Yes, when a star player shows that much public frustration over an innocuous question, it’s a sign things are really bad.
We’ve been there in Saskatchewan when the usually cordial Darian Durant, Weston Dressler and Rob Bagg were becoming less and less patient with questions during the seasons when wins weren’t coming as easily.
Draisaitl has had enough of the questions but the only way to stop getting them is to win. And right now the Oilers have reached a tipping point. It’s either going to improve or this team is about collapse and the questions will only get tougher and the players will only get more pissy.
