The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have picked their man, and now the only decent thing to do would be to release Jeremiah Masoli so he can pursue his next opportunity as soon as possible.
The Tiger-Cats have decided Dane Evans will now be their franchise quarterback with a new two-year deal. Evans was hurt in a lacklustre start in the Grey Cup but was simply outstanding in the East final last year, and with Evans being five years younger than Masoli, it wasn’t a difficult decision for the Tiger-Cats to go with him.
The Ottawa Redblacks have to be No. 1 on the list when it comes to Masoli as they are now the only team without a No. 1 guy. Maybe Chris Jones pulls a quick one after signing Nick Arbuckle, or the other team could be B.C. as Michael Reilly hasn’t given a 100 per cent commitment to 2022 with retirement an option.
Of course, Masoli isn’t the only vet on the market with Trevor Harris out there as well so that should bring their price down. This could allow the Saskatchewan Roughriders to take a look if they feel they want a little more insurance behind Cody Fajardo.
