For the second straight year, Bedford Road Collegiate has cancelled its annual high school basketball tournament.
According to a media release on its social media sites, Bedford Road said its Bedford Road Invitational Tournament (BRIT) organizing committee was forced to make the decision for the second year in a row.
“Safety is of the utmost importance for all staff, students, athletes, coaches and community members,” reads the release.
“With the current localized travel restrictions regarding the ongoing pandemic, it makes it very difficult to plan a successful tournament.”
The 2021 edition of the tournament was cancelled for the first time in BRIT history. It had run for 52 years prior.
The tournament brings in teams from across North America and the world, with teams from as far as Australia travelling to compete in the high school competition.
