Now that the NHL is out of the Olympics, there is only one solution to whet the appetite of hungry NHL fans who want to see Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon play for Team Canada in their prime.
Yes, I’m talking about another World Cup of Hockey. It’s an event that the NHL and NHLPA can profit off of and it’ll be an ideal time to do it in 2023 or 2024.
In the next Olympic Games, if the NHL goes, Crosby will be 38 — far outside his prime and, with his injuries that have piled up, who knows where his game will be?
Alex Ovechkin will be 40.
After having to back out of the Olympic deal, it only makes sense for the NHL and the NHLPA to hold this tournament again.
And trust me, while I had little interest in the last go-around, I would definitely be watching this one.
