The Saskatoon Airport Authority (SAA) said its computer system was hit by a cyber attack earlier this month.
“SAA became aware that our IT system was targeted through sophisticated, unauthorized means,” the news release said. “A number of files may have been accessed.”
A spokesperson for the airport said the authority was made aware of the attack on Dec. 7. Law enforcement was notified shortly afterward.
The airport says it engaged a team of third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident. The threat was identified and eliminated.
Those potentially affected were notified.
“This matter is of the utmost concern to SAA and is being treated as our highest priority. We apologize for any inconvenience this unfortunate incident may have caused,” the release said.
The airport said it will not provide any further information as the investigation is ongoing.
