Wins are everything in professional sports and Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians proves that as he changes his tune regarding controversial receiver Antonio Brown.
Brown is coming off a three-game suspension for providing a fake vaccination certificate.
If you go back before Brown even signed in Tampa Bay, Arians said it wouldn’t be a fit. He seemed completely against bringing in Brown, who had several other off-field red flags before this vaccination offence.
Then Arians said last year that if Brown slipped up one time in Tampa, he’d be gone.
Now is Arians going back on his word? Well, Arians was talking with the information he had at the time. Now Arians has dealt with Brown in his own locker room. He’s also without his top two receivers as Mike Evans and Chris Godwin were hurt in Sunday’s loss.
When Arians spoke in 2020, he didn’t need Brown. Now, he does.
And nobody who follows professional sports should be surprised. Coaches and managers are always willing to keep off-field headaches around as long as they help them win.
