Fans of sports don’t have much time for work stoppages, nor should they. Billionaires and millionaires arguing over how many millions they make don’t really make for much sympathy from a fan base.
For the first time in 26 years, it’s Major League Baseball’s turn to tick off their fans. At least they’re not screwing over the Montreal Expos like they did in 1994.
Here is the key issue; the players want the chance to go to free agency sooner and want a bigger piece of the revenues.
Owners don’t want to give up power or money.
As a fan, we have little time for the boardroom games and the coming press releases while both sides will claim that the other is in the wrong and going to do damage to the game…yada yada yada.
I’ll say this. There is ZERO reason for games to be lost EVER in pro sports. There is always a compromise, yet it always takes too long for owners and players to finally make a resolution even though everyone is making a heck of a lot of money.
I know neither side is going to get any sympathy from this fan.
