Shohei Ohtani was the unanimous selection for the American League MVP in Major League Baseball.
The dual threat pitcher/slugger did things in baseball not seen since Babe Ruth.
He had a 9-2 record as a starter for an average baseball team and he hit more than 40 home runs and had 100 RBIs at the plate.
It was a no-brainer on who the MVP was despite Toronto Blue Jays fans and media trying their hardest to sell the cases of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Marcus Semien.
One of those fans sent me a message about my opinion, asking if because Ohtani can pitch and hit, does that make him MVP every year?
Well, if he can continue to post 150 strikeouts, have a dominant record and also hit 40 and 100, yes. I do believe we could see Ohtani win multiple MVPs but I’ll say the same for Vladdy Jr.
The Blue Jays slugger gets better and better every year and he too will win an MVP. But I’ll enjoy these two young talents continuing to challenge each other as their careers progress.
