A 53-year-old man has died at the Prince Albert Correctional Centre.
Around 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, corrections staff found the inmate unresponsive in his cell.
They said they tried life-saving measures and called EMS, but the man ended up dying.
His death is reportedly not the result of COVID-19, while no foul play is suspected at this time.
The P.A. Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service are currently investigating the incident, with the Ministry of Corrections, Policing, and Public Safety also conducting its own internal investigation.
He’s the third individual to die while in custody in P.A. in the past month.
A 29-year-old man died after going into medical distress on Oct. 5 after police investigated a disturbance at the Victoria Hospital. A 35-year-old man was found unresponsive on Oct. 11 at the P.A. Police Service detention area.
