There is no denying it. There is no running away from it.
There is no chance of hiding from it.
The CFL has a major entertainment problem. Scoring has dipped below that of the NFL for the first time in the last 30 years. Maybe ever. The historical stats are hard to find.
Sure, you could blame the lack of scoring on being away from the game for a year due to COVID. You can blame the coaching cap that limits the quality and quantity of coaching. You can blame a number of things but all that doesn’t matter to the fans and consumers of the product.
If the product is not what the consumer wants, they will throw it away and try something new.
That should shake the CFL to its core if it hasn’t already.
Keep in mind the leading offence in the CFL this season with just over 24 points scored per game would rank eighth in the league in 2017.
That’s bad. That’s really bad. Scoring is down almost 10 points per game in just four years.
