The Saskatchewan Roughriders over the last month have proven they are a championship-calibre team … if you only look at their defence.
The defensive performance the last four games against Calgary and then again against Montreal over the weekend show that they can compete with the best in the league.
They also save the Roughriders’ offence because when an offence only needs to score 19 or 20 points to win, you’re going to win a lot of games no matter how much the offence struggles.
In the next month, the Riders have to get their offence into a rhythm. With one of the worst teams in the league on the schedule for the next two weeks, there is no better time to find their rhythm.
Cody Fajardo has three weeks to get on the same page with Duke Williams and Shaq Evans and hopefully figure out a way to offset their offensive line deficiencies to keep Fajardo on his feet.
Because while the defence is championship quality, there is no way this offence will beat Winnipeg’s championship-calibre defence come December.
