How much time do we give the CFL to figure it out for the 2021 season? Or is this entire season a writeoff from the start because of COVID rules, 600 days between games and no preseason games.
The league’s scoring is down nearly two touchdowns per game from this same point after Week 6 in 2019. The officials are getting heavily criticized as well. Penalties are up and you start to wonder how long it’ll be for the teams to really start looking like well-oiled machines again.
Meanwhile, the NFL has now started and has had two games go to overtime and two of three prime-time games have been absolutely must-watch gems. The CFL hasn’t had one of those all season.
And I get it. We should just be happy we have our CFL back this season because the entire future of the league seemed to be teetering on the brink. And I am. Very thankful to be exact.
But it’s still an entertainment product. And so far it’s lacking the entertainment portion of what’s traditionally made the CFL a better game to watch than its four-down sibling.
