Reports of fraudulent door-to-door solicitation in Saskatoon have police warning the public of potential doorstep visitors.
Police said recent reports of people representing an organization of HopeCo have been going door-to-door, claiming to collect money for charity. They are also reportedly trying to recruit young adults for jobs when they come to the door.
These actions are believed to be fraudulent by Saskatoon police.
Recruits are asked to transfer money to a fictional potential employer.
Police say the Better Business Bureau does not have a HopeCo registered with the Information Services Corporation or with the City of Saskatoon. The “organization” has been flagged for high-risk behaviour or practices.
Residents who are visited by people claiming to be affiliated with this group are advised to be viligant and refuse solicitation. Anyone who has been the victim of fraudulent activity can report the incident to police.
