Should the Riders be concerned about a trap game?
The Riders have been playing well as they lead the league in scoring. The defence is flying around and they look unbeatable at home.
But here come the Ottawa Redblacks. Yes, they are 1-0 on the season but with under 100 yards of offence and a quarterback dealing with arm soreness, the Redblacks are still placed at the bottom of the power rankings.
Riders head coach Craig Dickenson noted that fact so he’s fearful of taking the opponent too lightly.
But a trap game is more than taking a team for granted.
The Riders are feeling good. The opponent is feeling disrespected. Add to those facts, the bye week next week. Some players who are fully vaccinated might have flights booked for Sunday to head home and see family they haven’t seen for nearly three months.
