An Alberta man wanted on three Canada-wide warrants is facing 10 charges after evading Saskatoon police.
Around 11 p.m. Wednesday, officers noticed a Nissan Pathfinder with the wrong license plate. Police tried to stop the SUV but the driver refused and fled.
Saskatoon police patrol officers were helped by their Air Support Unit to find the vehicle from the air and use a tire deflation device to stop it. The driver then abandoned the Pathfinder on Avenue S North near 29th Street West.
The Air Support Unit, patrol members and canine unit were able to find the man hiding in a nearby backyard.
The man, 38, was taken into custody and treated for a minor injury — a dog bite after being bitten by an SPS dog while being apprehended, according to Saskatoon police.
He was wanted across Canada on three Criminal Code warrants and now faces charges of evading police, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited and obstruction.
