A man is recovering in hospital after mounties say he drove in the wrong direction through a highway construction zone, hitting two cars and rolling over in the ditch near Maymont.
Warman RCMP received a call at roughly 2 p.m. Monday about a red car driving the wrong direction on Highway 16 about three kilometres east of Maymont. The 21-year-old driver was weaving in and out of traffic through a construction zone at a high speed while nearly hitting highways workers.
The driver then struck a car and sideswiped another before he rolled in the ditch. The seconds car he hit also rolled into the ditch and was “severely damaged,” according to an RCMP media release.
The 21-year-old man was sent to hospital. No life-threatening injuries were reported from anyone in the three cars.
An RCMP traffic analyst was called to the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
