The smell of meat on the grill will help cut the scent from the wildfire smoke in Saskatoon.
Food Truck Wars has returned to downtown following a one-year hiatus after COVID-19 forced the 2020 festival to be cancelled.
This year’s festival features 20 food vendors plus a craft market, but it won’t have the same feel as previous years.
“Safety for our patrons was a major concern for us, so we decided to run a scaled-down version this year. Unfortunately, there will be no competitions and limited entertainment,” said organizers in a Facebook post.
The festival is pet-friendly with water stations available. The Saskatchewan Health Authority is also holding a pop-up vaccine clinic offering first and second doses to eligible people.
The festival runs daily until Saturday from 11 a.m to 7 p.m. in front of city hall and the Frances Morrison Central Library.
