There is no right or wrong way to win a championship, as long as you win a championship.
But there is a more admirable way to win a championship and the Milwaukee Bucks are to be admired. They picked a franchise player eight years ago in Giannis Antetokounmpo, which was the same year they had Khris Middleton brought in as a prospect in a trade.
Those two have spent eight years being the cornerstones of building a championship team. Think Jordan and Pippen in Chicago. Two young prospects who flourished together and took time to win.
Then came deals and free agent signings to finish the puzzle.
Giannis took a bit of a jab of not doing in the ‘easy way’ as he said he could have joined a team to win. I’m sure Kevin Durant or LeBron James or Anthony Davis or Kyrie Irving or Chris Bosh will take exception to the word ‘easy’ in winning their championships but it’s easier than the patience than what has been necessary in Milwaukee.
So while all champions should be respected. I respect the way Milwaukee won a championship much more than the super teams that have been winning more often than not recently in the NBA.
