A backyard accident led to impaired driving charges for one Saskatoon girl on Sunday.
Just before 12 p.m., Saskatoon Police received a complaint regarding an SUV driving into a backyard fence on the 400 block of Caldwell Crescent in the Parkridge neighbourhood.
Shortly after, complaints were made about an erratic driver in the same area.
Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. According to police the driver then proceeded to back up and hit the front of the police vehicle. Minor damage to the police vehicle was reported, but the officer in the vehicle was not injured.
Damages caused by the impaired driver were found on two fences, a parked van, an uprooted tree, a downed lamp post and the police vehicle.
The 16-year-old is in police custody and will be facing charges including impaired driving, driving with a blood-alcohol level over .08, dangerous driving and hit and run.
