After two long years, a summertime tradition is returning in Saskatoon.
On Tuesday, the headlining acts were announced for the 2021 edition of the SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, to be held from August 7-15.
The Sheepdogs and Wide Mouth Mason will open the festival on Aug. 7 in the Bessborough Gardens followed by The Washboard Union (Aug.8), Whitehorse (Aug. 9) Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra presents Keyed of Life: The Music of Stevie Wonder (Aug. 10).
“It’s always an exciting time when we start announcing shows, but this year is even more significant,” said artistic director Kevin Tobin in a release. “While scaled-down, the 2021 festival is shaping up to be an exciting one as our communities start to gather to support our incredible Canadian and Saskatchewan artists.”
The free stage program will be announced on on July 27 and will include 40 performances and events, and live-streaming details.
Tickets go on sale Wednesday afternoon at the Broadway Theatre box office, by phone at 306-652-6556, or online broadwaytheatre.ca/events.
The festival, which is normally held in July, was cancelled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
