A five-year-old boy was sent to hospital with minor head injuries after he allegedly was assaulted with a large kitchen knife in a home on the 500 block of Avenue H South on Sunday.
According to the Saskatoon Police Service, officers were sent to the home at about 5 p.m., after a call about an intoxicated man who was causing a disturbance and damaging property.
Shortly after officers arrived, the 18-year-old suspect allegedly assaulted the five-year-old. The suspect then struggled with officers as they tried to arrest him.
The suspect and the boy are known to each other.
The boy was treated at the hospital and released. The suspect also was sent to hospital due to what police called “extreme drug intoxication.”
