A murder investigation is underway in North Battleford after a body was found in a burned-out house northeast of the city.
According to the RCMP, officers responded Tuesday at about 10:30 p.m., with the RM of North Battleford Fire Department and local EMS to a structure fire in the RM of North Battleford. The blaze was in an abandoned house about 30 kilometres northeast of North Battleford.
“Once the fire was suppressed and the scene could be examined, human remains were located within the burnt structure,” the RCMP said in a media release. “The death is being treated as a homicide and (the) identity of the deceased is currently unknown.”
Anyone who has information about the incident or who saw suspicious activity in the area Tuesday between 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. is asked to call the North Battleford RCMP at 306-446-1720 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
